Cruwys news: My updated ethnicity results from AncestryDNA
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia This article is about a generic geological period of temperature reduction. Within a long-term ice age, individual pulses of cold climate are termed ” glacial periods ” or alternatively “glacials” or “glaciations” or colloquially as “ice age” , and intermittent warm periods are called ” interglacials “. The ice age began 2. So the Scriptures pretty much paint the same picture. And, indeed, geological studies that have been done imply that the earth has gone through more than one of these cooling glacial and warming interglacial periods. We also have the scriptural record of the Noatian flood. According to that report, Elohim caused a world-wide flood that is also borne out by geographical evidence. Before that flood, the Scriptures record that the average life-span of man was close to 1, years. Following the flood, that life-span was shortened to years.

Apr 10, · My DNA estimates I am 64% Great Britain, 14% Europe West, 9% Scandinavian, 8% Ireland, 4% trace areas, and 1% West Asian. In regards to my ancestors of Europe West, they all came from Badden, Germany and surrounding areas.
If you have German or Austrian grandparents, for example, you might have been expecting to find German or Austria as an ethnicity percentage. There are two main reasons for this: Ancestry DNA is currently working on an update that will provide more specific regions for those of us with Western Europe ancestry, but there is no official word as to when the update will be ready. Some people have found their results have been updated as part of a beta test for the new and improved ethnicity results.
I personally am very excited about being able to break down some of these broad European categories, like Europe West, into more specific regions. How genetically diverse is the geographic area of Western Europe? For the better part of history, there have always been people moving in, out, and through, Western Europe, as well as invasions, occupations, and trade. All of these very human activities have a profound effect on genetic diversity.
Celtic peoples and Germanic tribes About 2, years ago the main cultural group in Western Europe was the Celts , which surprises a lot of people, since the Celtic peoples are traditionally associated with Ireland and Scotland. There were people who lived there before the Celts, who many researchers believe migrated to the area from the Middle East. By the middle of the first millennium. Celtic languages are still spoken, but in only a few isolated regions, primarily in Scotland, Ireland, and Brittany, France.

Genetic variation in the promoter of the lactase gene LCT is known to be associated with lactase production and is therefore a genetic determinant for either lactase deficiency or lactase persistence during adulthood. Large differences in this genetic trait exist between populations in Africa and the Middle-East on the one hand, and European populations on the other; this is thought to be due to evolutionary pressures exerted by consumption of dairy products in Neolithic populations in Europe.
In this study, we have investigated lactase persistence of 26 out of 46 individuals from Late Neolithic through analysis of ancient South-West European DNA samples, obtained from two burials in the Basque Country originating from to YBP. Given the heterogeneity in the frequency of the lactase persistence allele in ancient Europe, we suggest that in Southern Europe the selective advantage of lactose assimilation in adulthood most likely took place from standing population variation, after cattle domestication, at a post-Neolithic time when fresh milk consumption was already fully adopted as a consequence of a cultural influence.
From that point a strong selective advantage of the ability to digest milk would have become apparent, which has resulted in a survival benefit of the already existing rare lactase persistent individuals in the population. As a consequence, the frequency of lactase persistence has increased rapidly in the generations to follow. The absence of lactase persistence is also reported by Lacan et al 11 in 26 samples from a late Neolithic burial located in Southern France.
The arrival or adoption of the Neolithic way of life in the Northern part of the Iberian Peninsula, here referred to as the Basque Country, is believed to have taken place around YBP. Several burials dating from this period have been identified and investigated archaeologically in the Basque Country, dating from to YBP. Therefore, the genetic make-up of the Neolithic Basques is likely to mirror the general genetic signature of Neolithic populations in Europe.

Paul Berry After building the product for Huffington Post, and owning the product and engineering groups at AOL after we were acquired, it was clear to me there was a huge gap between what the current CMS offering gave the world and what the world needed. Five years later we are at scale, moving the needle and doing to WordPress what Airbnb did to Craigslist. Social and Centralized WordPress, Drupal, and the custom CMS solutions of the world are all independent, non-connected instances that each need to be updated individually.
There are over 87 million instances of WordPress alone in the world, and each security upgrade, feature update, and every other single thing has to be updated for each site individually. By contrast, RebelMouse is a social, centralized platform built to keep up with the speed of the tech giants. Our updates are pushed out to all of our sites at once and sometimes even multiple times a day with content creation tools integrated directly into social APIs.
We can get clients off of clunky CMSs and into the future in a matter of days. We iterate with the times and tell you what’s changing in the world, how we’ve reacted to it, and how it’s built into the updates you get from the platform. Our creative agency team trains your teams or takes on special projects.

Tracking the migration of humans isn’t easy , but genetics is helping us uncover new information at breathtaking speed. We know that our species originated in Africa and likely reached Europe from the southeast no later than 42, years ago. During the last ice age some 33, , years ago, when a permanent ice sheet covered northern and parts of central Europe, modern humans in southwest Europe were isolated from groups further to the east. When the ice sheet retreated, some of these hunter gatherers eventually colonized Scandinavia from the south about 11, years ago, making it one of the last areas of Europe to be inhabited.
But exactly who these individuals were and how they got there has remained a puzzle for researchers. Now we have sequenced the genomes of seven hunter gatherers, dated to be 9, , years old, to find out.
The pilot phase of data collection is over, and the first population level statistics are now coming out. Of particular interest to me is a new analysis of various northern European ethnicities just published. The samples used in this analysis are: Remember that the data you input into these analyses shape the nature of the outcomes to some extent. All these populations are very genetically close when scaled to average worldwide inter-population genetic variation.
So what Dienekes is smoking out here are subtle differences between relatively close groups. The first clear result supports previous research using uniparental markers: The process on the southern and eastern frontiers is well documented, because it continued into the early modern period via a series of private wars of expansion. But the expansion into the Finnic north is less well documented. To some extent the process of Russification began far earlier, as even Kievan Rus at the turn of the first millennium has been claimed to have had Finnic elements the Rus were Swedes, but they probably picked up Finns in their warbands as they swept south, in addition to the numerous indigenous Finnic groups in northeast Europe.

South Asia In South Asia R1a1a has often been observed with high frequency in a number of demographic groups. M marker is rare in India. This haplogroup finding was apparently consistent with the latest SNP microarray analysis which argued that up to 55 percent of the modern Ashkenazi genome is specifically traceable to Europe. In Southern Europe R1a1a is not common amongst the general population, but it is widespread in certain areas. Data so far collected indicates that there two widely separated areas of high frequency, one in South Asia, around Indo-Gangetic Plain, and the other in Eastern Europe, around Poland and Ukraine.
However, the project will consider offering upgrades from Y37 to men who can show through their own family tree documentation that their direct paternal line surname was Cass and from County Cork, Ireland. Eligible men should be able to show paternal line ancestry back to the time of the relevant Cork Tithe Books or prior. Interested men should contact the Corca Laidhe project administrator.
Lineage submission required and subject to approval by administrator. Based on pedigree, the group administrator may opt to offer 37 markers. Participants are encouraged to upgrade to 37, 67 or markers. Sponsorship tests are on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to administrator approval.

Share 11k shares As the ice sheets retreated at the end of the last Ice Age, the region was repopulated. David Reich and his colleagues from Harvard University analysed genome-wide data from 51 modern humans who lived between 45, and 7, years ago to study this repopulation. The founding population has deep branches in different parts of Europe, one of which is represented by a specimen from Belgium. In fact, present-day Europeans can trace their ancestry back to this group of humans who lived in northwest Europe 35, years ago.
