Why won’t my Chevy starter turn over
I’m looking to install a right hand tail light and turn signal for safety reasons on my Tudor. Since it’s a , it has the drum tail light with the cast bracket attached to the rear body subframe. I’m looking for the location dimensions for the 3 holes on the right hand side to mount the new RH bracket? Bratton’s Also any information on the clinch nuts to install in the subframe rail would be appreciated. I’ve found nothing on this topic at all; been a real challenge. I can find no source for mounting instructions for a RH tail light.

I don’t have anything connected to the I terminal and I’m wondering if there should be something there, I’ve read a couple of posts that say you should have 12 volts at the I terminal when the ignition is in start and run but I don’t know what the source should be.
Jul 25, · The battery connects to the Ford solenoid. The switched side of the Ford solenoid connects to the GM starter with a batt cable. The start post of the GM starter is hardwired to the big terminal on the GM starter with a 10 ga wire or so.

Likes Received 11 Everybody is right. On the 10 SI units, the lead on the left, looking from the rear of the unit, marked ‘1’ is generally called the ‘idiot light’wire. GM once placed a resistor in parallel with the light, in case the bulb burned out. This post once needed ground to allow alternator turn on. Modern voltage regulators and self exciting regulators no longer need this ground function. The right post marked’2’ is in need of voltage to excite the alternator for power up. The fast and dirty way to allow turn on is to just run a wire from the power wire to this post.
This hookup will do the job, but it allows a small amount of leakage of power. The drain is about what a clock will draw.

A spade terminal will usually be available in the box, which will supply the necessary amperage. If the circuit is hard to find, use a voltmeter to locate the appropriate terminal.
